SPRING BREAK!

It's me. It's my turn to pitch in on my new site. It's spring break, and things are a bit crazy around here! Sissy is spending spring break up in Breckenridge. Mom and dad are taking turns being with her and myself. I am hearing it is true spring skiing! When Sarah is not skiing, she is swimming and making time for Disney Channel (something she doesn't have at home). She has a friend staying at the same place, so they meet up at the pool after skiing, and tomorrow they will ski together. Sis is having a blast!

Mom and dad are enjoying doing nothing but skiing, sitting in the hot tub, and relaxing! I wish I could join them, but I am just not doing great on high altitude. My seizures are acting up on high altitude. In addition, my casted arm is not great travel company at the moment.

But I am also on spring break! I got my cast on Monday, and I feel so much better! Everyone had picked out a color for my cast, but I got to pick out the color with my eye gaze all by myself. I picked red! No surprise to my mom. We will go back to Orthopedics in a month to see if the cast can go or needs to stay on longer.

We are having great spring weather around here. So, I have been out for walks again, and enjoying the nice warm weather. My friend Miss S. also came to see me. She wanted to check in on me, and make sure I am doing ok with my broken arm. She made the best card for me, and created a fossil! I have also enjoyed our patio swing again.

The only thing that is really hard right now is sleeping. I am not a friend of my bed. I am just very uncomfortable at night with my cast. My heart rate is high, and I am so hot! It makes my cast warm and icky! Since I move less, my secretions are also yucky at night. My Jacob team is figuring out little tricks each night that is helping me through each night, but I know that I am needing a little bit of extra love and care right now. Giving me a bath is definitely a two-person job right now!

Regarding my bones and my diagnosis of osteoporosis, I am going to see yet another specialist. I am scheduled to see an endocrinologist next to see what they recommend to help my bones to become stronger. My nurses are also drawing labs, so we can make sure all my vitamin levels are where they should be. Dr. C. has worked out an elaborate seizure wean schedule to get rid of yet another seizure medication that decreases bone density. We will start on Monday, and it should take 2 months to get rid of this medication completely.

I am hoping to be back in school next week! I have a cast that needs to be signed :-

Much love,
Jacob

  4. Nice pictures. I really like how you both are posing the same way in the 2nd and 3rd picture on the page. Sorry to hear about the osteoporosis, but the cast and sling is pretty neat. Denver spring wear I call it, remembering my time with it 13 years ago. All the best to the whole family.

    God påske til dere alle!
